How Will Your Life Look After COVID-19

How Will Life Look After Covid-19 In Ontario, Canada?

We have been in isolation for nearly 6 weeks and it has become the norm.  Most of us are playing by the rules our Chief Public Health Officer Theresa Tam is strongly suggesting. We are flattening the curve but as stated, we cannot let up yet or this was all for nothing. Canadians have proven that we know how to follow the rules and are wise enough to take this pandemic seriously. The question that comes up frequently
is: What's Next?

What will the classrooms look like? Our teaches have been fighting the government for smaller classes every contract. Will this happen - 6 feet of separation? Will there be disinfectant sprays at every desk that will be required to be wiped down after everyone class? Will teachers and students be wearing masks and gloves? Perhaps online learning will continues except for exams.

What will your workplace look like? Will working from home become the new work environment. Perhaps only going into the office for weekly meetings with masks and gloves being the standard practice. What will happen to all those empty brick and mortar businesses? Will they become condos? Just meeting rooms or will there be a skeleton staff with plexiglass between desks? Will Congregating around the water cooler become online chat rooms - houseparty anyone?

What about movie theaters?  Will renting the newest releases and watching at home be date night?  If so, is it time to invest in a big screen TV and surround sound. Maybe your basement rec room will become your personal movie theater. Currently you can reserve your seat, I'm guessing there will just be less seats to reserve. You may be sitting 6 feet away from your date.

Professional sports and Little League - how do we get around player contact? Will you be watching your kids play soccer or baseball this summer? What will the MBA schedule look like. Will the teams isolate together and play without fans in the stadiums? While professional sports have been broadcasting vintage games on cable, will the live games be a pay-per-view option going forward? There may be new rules to change the way sports are played. Determination between Brains and Brawn may become very obvious.

Does anyone miss dining at their favorite restaurant or getting together with your friends for a drink at your local pub. I do for sure. When will they re-open and what will your dining experience look like. Will you be greeted with a masked host? Will you see that friendly smile from your bartender or waiter ever again? Will there be waiting lists due to reduced capacity rules. What about patio season? Restaurants have been hit very hard. Most are offering curb-side pickup and many deals are being offered.
Support your local restaurant and order take-out this week.

We all know our world has changed and will continue to change in the future. Some changes are welcome, like reduced emissions, while some will be more difficult to accept. One thing I am sure of is that our communities will be stronger, kinder and less selfish after this experience. We have proven that we respect each other enough to continue self-isolation and social distancing to squash COVID-19.
